The tsunami hit, the status of the Tanjung Lesung SEZ was maintained
Rakyat Press. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution ensured that the status of the Tanjung Lesung Special Economic Zone (KEK) would not be changed, even though the area was affected by the tsunami disaster in the Sunda Strait some time ago.
"Still. He (Tanjung Lesung SEZ) has no problem, at best there are efforts to maintain abrasion and mitigation disaster again," Darmin said in his office on Thursday (12/27).
This was decided after conducting an evaluation of the current condition of the Tanjung Lesung SEZ. Although it was hit by the tsunami, Darmin believed that in the future investment interest in the tourist area would remain as long as various disaster mitigation could be improved.
The government, according to Darmin, has actually prepared disaster mitigation for the region. However, the planning made previously did not predict that there was a potential disaster from Mount Anak Krakatau.
"So it was so landslide (under the sea) yesterday there, who knows, it never existed, even though he was facing the right," he said.
As for future mitigation, the government is reviewing the possibility of adding coastal areas and preventing abrasion, for example by building break water. This is in line with the results of the evaluation of the Tanjung Lesung SEZ which stated that the coastal border was originally around 100 meters, with only 50-60 meters left of the sea.
Nevertheless, he cannot yet ascertain when the planned break water development can be realized. The government still needs to study more about the readiness to develop the break water and discuss the area management business entity, namely PT Jababeka Group Tbk.
"It should (break water built), but don't ask first," he added.
Jababeka Group President Director Setyono Djuandi Darmono said that the management was still confident of the continuation of the Tanjung Lesung SEZ status. However, increased mitigation and disaster recovery measures are needed to maintain the attractiveness of investing investors.
In addition, disaster prevention must be carried out on all types of disasters that have the potential to occur. "Break water is one of the things that can prevent it, because if not later we will be difficult to sell abroad," he said.
Even so, according to him, the effort to procure break water still needs to be matured because it is estimated that it requires a small budget. "This is not our territory, so it must be seen later where to find the money if everyone wants to use break water. The United States alone cannot afford to provide a lot," he explained.
